| FHCA Resident of the Year Arthur Branner Arthur Branner is a caring individual with a passion for improving the quality of life for his fellow residents of Palm Garden of Ocala. He teaches Sunday school, leads a choir group and has even given tax prep assistance to the staff and residents. | FHCA Young Adult Volunteers of the Year Katelyn and Kellie Parenda Just 12 and 14 years old, Katelyn and Kellie Parenda began volunteering at Palm Garden of Ocala to fulfill a school requirement. | FHCA Group Volunteer of the Year Reverend Ira Moore and Central Baptist Church Reverend Moore (center) and his wife, Pinky, received the FHCA Group Volunteer of the Year Award from FHCA Immediate Past Chair David Sylvester for spreading fellowship to the residents of Palm Garden of Ocala for over 19 years. | Arthur H. Harris Government Services Award Joe Mitchell Joe Mitchell, CEO of Summit Care II of Tallahassee, was honored for his many tireless efforts during the 2008 legislative session. AS FHCA Multifacility Vice President, Mitchell facilitated meetings between FHCA and Florida's nursing home CEOs and owners to develop a unified campaign that included media outreach and grassroots efforts to remind Florida's legislators to keep their promise to continue providing for Florida's frail elderly by ensuring adequate nursing home funding. | ![]() |
| Legislative Awards This year's legislative awards were presented to Senator Mike Fasano of New Port Richey, who received the 2008 Legislator of the Year, and Senator Gary Siplin of Orlando, who received the Braveheart Award. FHCA also recognized Aegis Therapies, Greystone Healthcare Management and Life Care Centers of America for support during the 2008 legislative session. | |
