Risk Management and Quality Assurance Program

The Florida Health Care Association's Quality Unit provides members with timely information that is needed to promote the adoption of a comprehensive and integrated risk management / quality assurance program. Florida statutes require that all licensed facilities establish an internal risk management and quality assurance program, the purpose of which is to assess resident care practices, review facility quality indicators, facility incident reports, resident grievances, and deficiencies cited by the Agency for Health Care Administration, Chapter 400.147, F.S. Further, Florida Law requires that facilities develop plans of action to correct and respond quickly to identified quality deficiencies.

The FHCA Risk Management Workgroup composed of seasoned risk managers with years of experience in long term care has developed educational and training materials to assist facilities in their efforts to control risk improve, reduce litigation, and improve quality of care.

FHCA is committed to the tenants of Risk Management as a tool to improve both quality of care and quality of life for the residents of Florida's long term care facilities.
