Recall Smoke Damper actuators -- FOR PROMPT ATTENTION
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission is spreading the word about a recall related to fire and smoke dampers. Specifically, 560,000 Siebe actuators which could be found in fire and smoke dampers are being recalled for testing and replacement if necessary. Actuators hold open fire and smoke dampers in a building's heating, ventilation and air conditioning system. The recalled actuators can jam and prevent the dampers from closing which can result in serious injury or death during a fire. The Agency's Office of Plans & Construction has sent a package of information for Fire Protection Specialists for use during survey.
