A new biennium requirement for Certified Nursing Assistants became effective on May 25, 2003, as part of the new CNA rules (64B9-15.011 (2)(C), FAC) developed by the CNA Council. The new requirements mandate specific topics for CNAs in all work environments.

All CNAs, regardless of work environment, are now required to receive in-service training every 2 years in specific areas; the calendar year is used in calculating CNA in-service hours. To help meet this new requirement, FHCA has developed two new 2-hour self-directed in-service courses. Each 2-hour course includes two of the new biennium topics:

  • Medical Record Documentation and Understanding Legal Aspects for Certified Nursing Assistants
  • Medical Error Prevention & Domestic Violence Awareness for Certified Nursing Assistants
These courses will meet the new requirement and can be ordered by printing the order form from the Order Form link below or may be ordered online. Each CNA would need his or her own course materials and discounts have been made available to FHCA or FALA members. Pricing includes shipping & handling, scoring tests, and issuing certificates. The course is copyrighted and original Answer Sheets will be provided; once completed, the Answer Sheets are to be mailed to FHCA, P.O. Box 1459, Tallahassee, FL 32302, for scoring. A customized certificate will then be issued showing successful completion of the course. Either individual CNAs or organizations may order from FHCA; see the Order Form for more details.
