Outreach Programs Treasure Our Elders is an initiative of the Florida Health Care Association to recognize the elders that have shaped the history of our state and nation and have positively influenced our quality of life through their numerous contributions to society. It also intended to positively acknowledge Florida long term care providers which consist of thousands of caregivers and healthcare associates that honor Florida’s elders daily through their commitment to excellence, quality of life, integrity, compassion, and respect and believe the elderly people they serve are entitled to a supportive work culture where professional and compassionate care is rendered. Art from the Heart Florida Health Care Association's Art from the Heart calendar features artwork created by nursing home residents from across the state of Florida. University art professors and local art curators judge the annual entries, which are contributed from artists ranging from age 20 to 99. The artwork included in the calendar reveal each resident’s enthusiasm for life, as well as their own unique talent. Proceeds from the sale of the Art from the Heart calendars benefit FHCA's Quality Credentialing Foundation, which endeavors to improve services and quality of care for all those living in Florida's nursing homes. Long Term Care Excellence and Achievement Awards Each year, the Florida Health Care Association honors the best in the long term care profession with a series of prestigious achievement awards. These include the Nursing Home Administrator of the Year, the Arthur H. Harris Government Services Award and the Willis J. Gregson Associate Member of the Year Award. FHCA also honors a number of community volunteers for their service to long term care, as well as an outstanding facility for its media and community involvement. The Long Term Care Excellence in Nursing Program focuses on the individual contributions of nursing staff employed in Florida's long term care facilities, and recognizes nurse administrators, RNs and LPNs. CNAs also have the opportunity to participate in an annual CNA Essay Contest, which provides scholarship awards to help these individuals with career advancement.
