Art from the Heart

The Florida Health Care Association's Quality Foundation and Consumer Relations Committee introduced the "Art from the Heart" calendar in 2006. The calendar features art work created by nursing home residents from across the state of Florida. Each year, a volunteer panel of judges from the Tallahassee art community come together to select 14 pieces of art work for the calendar.

The contributing artists for the Art from the Heart calendar are a varied group, ranging in age from 28 to 98. Some have been creating art their entire lives, while others have recently discovered they have a talent for art. Regardless of their experience, the art work included in this annual calendar reveals each resident's enthusiasm for life and their own unique talent. Proceeds from the sale of the calendar raises funds to benefit FHCA's Quality Foundation, which promotes mentorship and collaboration among long term care providers and stakeholders through a shared commitment to communicate best practices, share resources, promote educational activities and advocate for continuous quality improvement.

The Art from the Heart calendar is an excellent tool to help promote long term care in your community. The FHCA Consumer Relations Committee has put together a list of ideas on how to use the calendar for marketing and public relations purposes, community outreach and improving resident and family relations. Click here to read more.
