Awards & Recognition

Florida Health Care Association annually honors the best in the long term care profession with a series of prestigious achievement awards. The Association also recognizes a number of community volunteers for their service to long term care, as well as an outstanding facility for its community outreach.

Walter M. Johnson Circle of Excellence Award
Florida Health Care Association’s highest honor, the Walter M. Johnson, Jr. Circle of Excellence Award was initiated in 1972 in honor of a man who was one of the significant forces in the establishment of the Association. The Award is given annually to a member of FHCA who has made significant contributions in the past year and has worked for the growth and development of the Association through the years.

Long Term Care Achievement Awards
FHCA's Long Term Care Achievement Awards recognize the exemplary contributions of long term care leaders and volunteers who daily demonstrate commitment to quality care through their dedication to residents, staff and the LTC profession. Awards are presented during the FHCA Annual Conference & Trade Show in the categories of: Nursing Home and Assisted Living Facility Administrators of the Year, Arthur H. Harris Government Services Award, Willis J. Gregson Associate Member of the Year, Resident of the Year and Volunteers of the Year (Group, Adult, Young Adult).

Excellence in Long Term Care Nursing Awards
FHCA's Excellence in Long Term Care Nursing Awards honor exemplary nurses for their commitment and dedication to long term care communities in many varied areas of expertise: clinical practice, person-centered care, continuous quality improvement, customer responsiveness, leadership and communication. Awards are presented each year during the FHCA Nurse Leadership Program in the categories of: Nurse Administrator of the Year, Registered Nurse of the Year, Licensed Practical Nurse of the Year, Certified Nursing Assistant of the Year and Long Term Care Rising Star in Nursing Award.

Long Term Care Photo Contest
FHCA member skilled nursing centers and assisted living facilities annually submit photographs capturing the daily life, activities and loving care between residents, families and staff. The top three photographs are chosen as winners via a public Facebook vote, earning cash prizes for the award-winning centers to host a special resident activity.
