FHCA Pulse regularly features the life stories of Florida nursing home patients. These profiles help people understand that the elderly made many large and small contributions to our nation and that they are worthy of respect and appreciation.

If you have a patient in your facility whose background or life experience might make for a good story, we would appreciate your tipping us to it.

If your facilty's patient is selected, an FHCA writer/reporter will come to your facility and personally interview the treasured elder. Photos also are taken and all stories praise the quality of care the patient is receiving in the nursing home.

The best "Treasure Our Elders" story subjects are those patients who are alert and oriented, and whose speech is understandable to the untrained ear. Those whose memories are vivid and those who are more outgoing by nature and/or who laugh easily are great.
