Meet the Speakers: FHCA’s Creative Connections An Activity & Life Enrichment Professionals Training

Susan Anderson currently serves as the Director of Regulatory Affairs for Florida Health Care Association. In this position, she concentrates on supporting the legislative, regulatory, and policy activities on behalf of association members for nursing centers and assisted living facilities. Ms. Anderson has experience in seniors housing and in developing public policy positions and advising on regulatory compliance. Ms. Anderson is an active member of the Florida Bar.

Kim Broom has been a Registered Nurse for 37 years with 24 years in long term care as a Director of Nursing, Regional Nurse Consultant, and other roles. She is a risk manager and for six years was the administrator of a 68-bed assisted living center with an Extended Congregate Care license. She came to FHCA in May of 2017 and is the liaison to Senior Clinicians Council, Risk Compliance Council, Infection Prevention Council, and the Florida Center for Assisted Living (FCAL) Committee.

Hannah Jacobs, CTRS, CDP, CADDCT, has 10 years of experience in the long term and dementia care. Through her career as a Recreational Therapist, she has worked in Memory Care, SNF, and ALF. Hannah has served as a guest lecturer, speaker, and trainer for Activities Directors, and currently serves as the Director of Life Enrichment and Employee Culture at Aston Health.

Darcy MacHale is an accomplished health care tech sector leader with over 20 years of business development experience. Currently serving as the Canadian Country Manager at Carefeed, Darcy spearheads the software platform’s operations in Canada, focusing on building strategic relationships with long-term care and retirement community operators. 

Darcy held leadership positions at Cliniconex, where he was responsible for direct, channel, and marketplace strategies that increased use across the platform. He served as Chief Revenue Officer at Reside Admissions, where he successfully led enterprise efforts in the LTC sector. With a proven track record in leadership, public speaking, and developing go-to-market strategies, Darcy is a strategic thinker who fosters collaborative, consultative relationships that extend beyond products and services. Darcy's knowledge of the sector helps providers find technology solutions that allow them realize measurable results.

Kate Woods is a graduate of University of Toledo and has been a CTRS since 2019. She holds a Bachelors in Recreational Therapy and a Masters in Recreation Administration. She has experience in a variety of settings, including behavioral health, community reintegration, adaptive sports, and individuals with traumatic brain injuries. She currently works in long term care, and recently became a Certified Dementia Practitioner and uses her skills to improve the lives of her residents.
