Skilled nursing centers will see changes to Medicare reimbursements in October 2019, when the Patient Driven Payment Model takes effect. A missing or incorrect ICD-10 Code can have a significant impact on a center’s revenue under PDPM. This program is designed to help attendees understand the ICD-10 CM Coding Manual and how to effectively use it to code and sequence resident conditions. Key coding conventions and the related guidelines are highlighted, along with primary diagnosis definition and chapter-specific coding guidelines relevant to skilled nursing facilities. Recent MDS updates and the new PDPM are also reviewed as to how diagnoses and coding play an essential role in MDS, care planning and billing.
This program is geared toward executives at the regional/corporate level, administrators, nurses, therapists and professionals focused on MDS and coding at the facility level. 10 hours of continuing education will be provided.

- Clarify risk adjustment and it’s intention related to coding
- Detail an item-by-item review of the ICD-10 manual to optimize proper identification of appropriate codes
