Wound Care Regulatory Changes: Understanding the Impact for Compliance and Quality Outcomes

A significant set of changes to the MDS 3.0 took effect October 1, 2023, including regulatory changes to wound care, which can impact a facility’s Quality Measures. This virtual, live program will discuss the changes and how they impact Section M coding, along with use of the appropriate ICD-10 codes and how new changes should be implemented, coded, and captured. Changes specific to wound care, including end-of-life wounds, coding for new admissions and assessments will be covered, along with a process for compliance and best practice principles for enhanced quality care. The presenter will also review current literature on end-of-life wounds and discuss how end-of-life wounds should be documented and noted.

Virtual, Live Broadcast Program: How it Works

  • Delivered via a two-hour live, virtual training session on December 5, 2023. 
  • Training Date: Registered attendees will access the live broadcasted training via Zoom on December 5, 2023, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. EST. 
  • Training Materials: post-quiz; handout materials 
  • Continuing Education Credits: Attendees will earn a total of 2 computer based CEUs. FHCA will post contact hours to CE Broker by December 15th. Participants must attend the two-hour live, virtual training and complete the post-quiz by December 14, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. EST to receive CEUs.

Kelso is a published author, clinical editor for peer-reviewed publications, and a member of several national advisory boards. She is frequently called upon as a legal expert witness and has been a speaker at hundreds of educational events.
