Battelle CCDS N95 Mask Decontamination

Free N95 Mask Decontamination for Nursing Centers

The Battelle CCDS Critical Care Decontamination System™ was awarded a contract by the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) on behalf of the U.S Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide N95 respirator mask decontamination at no charge to health care personnel (HCP) across the United States, including Florida. The Battelle CCDSTM uses concentrated, vapor phase hydrogen peroxide (VPHP) and works by exposing used respirator masks to the validated concentration level for 2.5 hours to decontaminate biological contaminates, including SARS-CoV-2 which causes the COVID-19 illness. Florida nursing centers are eligible to receive this free service, which includes getting the N95 respirator masks from the facility to the decontamination site and back.

Battelle is fully operational in Miami and can process up to 80,000 N95 masks per day. In the coming weeks they are coordinating with FEMA to have additional Florida sites planned as needed.

Nursing centers are encouraged to review the materials here to better understand the program :

To participate, nursing centers should submit a request for services. A representative from Battelle will contact you, after which your facility will be required to complete the Battelle CCDS™ PPE Decontamination Services Agreement (available below for review).
