FHCA Celebrates Recognition of CEO Emmett Reed as One of Florida’s Most Impactful Leaders
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida Health Care Association (FHCA) is proud to celebrate CEO Emmett Reed, who has been named to the inaugural 50 Over 50 list produced by the News Service of Florida. This honor recognizes influential Floridians over age 50 who shape the future of the state through leadership, service, and impact. Recipients represent an esteemed list of leaders in health care, business, policy, education, and more.
“To be recognized among Florida’s most influential leaders is deeply humbling. This honor reflects the incredible people I’ve had the privilege to lead and learn from,” said Reed. “I have always believed that when you serve with passion, surround yourself with great minds, and stay focused on your mission, success will follow — not just for yourself, but for those you serve.”
Reed and his fellow recipients were honored at an awards event on Wednesday night in Tallahassee. Keynote speakers and presenters included state Senator Tina Polsky, state Representative Sam Garrison, Florida Secretary of State Cord Byrd, and News Service of Florida senior writer Dara Kam.
Since taking the helm of FHCA in 2009, Reed has strengthened the organization as a powerful force for quality care and effective advocacy, with the association now representing more than 86% of the state's nursing centers. Known for his ability to unite people and drive results, Reed has strengthened member relations, advanced critical legislative priorities, and expanded initiatives to meet the evolving needs of Florida’s long term care community.
Reed’s proudest professional achievement came when he received FHCA’s prestigious Circle of Excellence Award, the Association’s highest honor, chosen by previous winners who are considered trailblazers in the field.
Beyond FHCA, Reed serves nationally as Secretary/Treasurer for the Affiliate of State Health Care Association Executives and is a member of the American Health Care Association’s Council for Post-Acute Care.
