FHCA Secretary Isis Fernandez Selected as a National Future Leader in Long Term Care
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida Health Care Association (FHCA) is proud to announce that FHCA Secretary Isis Fernandez, administrator at Hialeah Shores Rehabilitation Center, has been selected by the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) as a future leader in long term and post-acute care. Fernandez is one of 39 individuals selected nationwide who will participate in AHCA/NCAL’s Future Leaders program, which provides year-long training and mentorship for professionals in long term and post-acute care.
“This recognition is a testament to Isis's passion for long term care and dedication to developing future leaders in the profession,” said Emmett Reed, FHCA CEO. “Isis will bring exceptional insight to the program that she’s gained throughout her career and through her service to FHCA. I am confident that her experience in this prestigious program will benefit the association and the members we serve.”
Fernandez is both a Registered Nurse and a licensed Nursing Home Administrator and has over 30 years experience in long term care. She is also an adjunct professor at Med College and Galen College of Nursing, both of which offer comprehensive healthcare and nursing degree programs. Fernandez is also a certified teacher for Dade County Public School System where she serves as an instructor for the Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician program at Hialeah Adult Education Center. Her goal is to introduce nursing students to long term care, inspiring them through her love of the profession and helping to shape the next generation of compassionate nurses.
Fernandez uses her passion for caring and leadership as a springboard for her active involvement with FHCA. She is a member of the FHCA Executive Committee, currently serving as Secretary of the Board of Directors. She has also served as an FHCA Region I Vice President and District I President, and is a graduate of FHCA’s Florida Leaders program.
Fernandez was selected as an AHCA/NCAL Future Leader for her demonstrated leadership. The year-long program offers training in the latest theories and practical applications in quality management, customer satisfaction, and leadership. The program kicks off with the “Future Leaders of Long-Term Care in America” Symposium held each year in Washington, D.C.
