FHCA Statement on Governor’s Announcement to Revise LTC Facility Visitation Restrictions

TALLAHASSEE, FL - In response to Governor DeSantis announcing he will be making revisions to Emergency Order 20-006 which prohibits visitation in Florida long term care facilities, Florida Health Care Association issued the following statement:

"Today’s announcement by the governor is a significant step forward in achieving our shared goal of reuniting long term care residents with their loved ones. We know that families are anxious and looking forward to wrapping their arms around their loved ones. We also know the importance of returning our care centers to a place that residents know as their home, when they can visit with their families or have their hair cut and styled – things that contribute to their quality of life. FHCA has appreciated the opportunity to serve on the Task Force on the Safe and Limited Re-Opening of Long Term Care Facilities. The Task Force’s recommendations strike an important balance between a safe reopening of our care centers and keeping residents protected from the virus, which has been our number one priority since the pandemic began. We look forward to receiving guidelines from the state and putting the policies in place that will help put a sense of normalcy back in our care centers."
