Florida Nursing Centers to be Featured in Award-Winning National Docuseries to Spotlight Long Term Caregivers

Florida Health Care Association Partners with People Worth Caring About Docuseries to Highlight Authentic Stories of Compassionate Care and Personal Connections Between Staff and Residents

Tallahassee, Fla. - Eight Florida Health Care Association (FHCA) member nursing centers will be featured in the People Worth Caring About docuseries, an award-winning, national program showcasing the caregivers transforming lives throughout the nation. Hosted by former CNA and filmmaker Peter Murphy Lewis, Florida's docuseries will showcase uplifting stories of dedicated CNAs, activities directors, nurses, therapists and other support staff in nursing centers in Labelle, Sunrise, Port St. Lucie, West Palm Beach, Coral Gables, Orlando, Bradenton, and Callaway, Florida.

FHCA's partnership with the People Worth Caring About docuseries will shine a light on the lives, dedication and humanity of Florida's long term caregivers who provide essential, compassionate care to seniors and people with disabilities. The series will also aim to inspire the next generation to pursue careers in health care, showcasing the fulfilling nature of long term caregiving.

“Caregivers are the heart of long term care in Florida, defining what it means to deliver the gold standard of high-quality care for residents and their families. The eight centers we showcased reflect what’s happening in care centers every day across our state,” said Emmett Reed, CEO, Florida Health Care Association. “We’re excited to partner with People Worth Caring About to highlight these exceptional individuals and share the real stories of their compassion and unwavering dedication to residents and their families.”

Authentic, unscripted stories will be featured in the following FHCA member centers:

Displaced residents and staff have returned to a thriving center, including the dietary manager and rehab director, who each played a significant role in keeping residents safe and well cared for during the storm. The episode shows how they pour their hearts into every interaction with residents and families, from Taco Tuesday and therapy to dominos and dancing.

It’s small town at its best, with outdoor gardening, bluegrass music, and a courtyard picnic complete with homemade fried chicken and cherry pie.

The first People Worth Caring About season, featuring long term care communities in Nebraska, is now airing on national television, and the latest season alone has garnered more than 310,000 views, with nearly 50% of viewers under the age of 35, demonstrating its resonance with younger generations and its potential to attract new talent to the field.

“The only real way you can change somebody’s opinion in life is through a story. And that’s exactly what we did. Caregivers are not just CNAs; they are the architects who build and design memories for America’s seniors,” said Peter Murphy Lewis, creator and host. “These Florida heroes are building memories every single day. We're honored to partner with FHCA to tell their stories.”

Additional seasons feature caregivers in Ohio and New Mexico, with Florida joining Kentucky and North Dakota as the next three seasons added to the docuseries. Expected to air in late 2026, these seasons will expand the series’ reach and inspire a new generation to enter caregiving.
