National Transportation Summit Report
In December 2008, 44 national leaders representing state and federal partners, industry representatives from long term care and transportation, and experts in emergency preparedness and response and energy convened in Florida for the National Long Term Care Evacuation Transportation Summit. The report highlights ten key findings and recommendations that call for the inclusion of nursing homes in evacuation transportation planning, especially at the federal level.

In May 2007, sixty-five national and state leaders from long term care, emergency management, transportation, energy, medicine and state and federal regulatory agencies convened at St. Pete Beach, Florida for the second Southeastern Nursing Home Hurricane Summit, hosted by the Florida Health Care Association and sponsored with the John A. Hartford Foundation.
