Tallahassee, FL - More than 800 long term care professionals from across Florida were on hand to applaud Debra Wallace, administrator of Vista Manor in Titusville, as she was honored as the 2015 Nursing Home Administrator of the Year by Florida Health Care Association (FHCA). The award, presented to Wallace during FHCA’s Annual Conference in Orlando last week, is the highest honor given to nursing home administrators in Florida’s long term care profession.

For the past 13 years, Debra Wallace has demonstrated proven leadership and a commitment to performance excellence as an administrator with Consulate Health Care. Most recently as the administrator at Vista Manor for the last three years, she has delivered exceptional outcomes for residents and staff. Under her leadership, the Vista Manor team has embraced a series of clinical and operational goals as part of the Advancing Excellence in America’s Nursing Homes Campaign and the results have earned the center a Five-Star Rating from the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Wallace has a passion for those she works with and cares for which has earned her numerous awards for high standards of resident care. Wallace is an active member of the Florida Health Care Association, most recently serving as the Association’s District XV President representing Brevard County.

“FHCA is pleased to honor Debra Wallace,” said FHCA Executive Director Emmett Reed. “She is a role model, an impressive advocate for high quality care at the local and statewide levels and is incredibly deserving of this award.”

The Nursing Home Administrator of the Year Award is given annually by Florida Health Care Association to a nursing home administrator of an FHCA-member center with demonstrated service to the Association, along with significant and measurable achievements in overall center administration, workforce innovation, survey record and implementation of quality improvement programs, including the Advancing Excellence campaign and culture change.
