Florida’s 2023 AHCA/NCAL Silver National Quality Award Recipients Announced

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida Health Care Association (FHCA) is pleased to announce that seven Florida nursing centers have earned the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) 2023 Silver – Achievement in Quality Award. With this announcement, Florida now has 111 centers statewide that have earned the Silver Quality Award, far exceeding any other state in the country.

The Silver Award is the second of three distinctions possible through the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program, which recognizes providers across the nation that have demonstrated improved quality outcomes for staff, residents and individuals with disabilities in long term and post-acute care. Each application is reviewed and judged against a set of nationally recognized standards for achieving excellence using the Baldrige principles. These seven Florida nursing centers are among 63 skilled nursing care centers, eight assisted living communities, and one dual skilled nursing/assisted living provider in 27 states that achieved the Silver Award.

The following 7 Florida nursing centers have earned the Silver-Achievement in Quality Award for 2023:

  • Avante at Mount Dora, Mount Dora
  • Clermont Health & Rehabilitation Center, Clermont
  • DeBary Manor, Debary
  • Gulf Coast Medical Center SNU, Fort Myers
  • Lakeside Oaks Care Center, Dunedin
  • Living Center of Safety Harbor, Safety Harbor
  • The Lodge at Cypress Cove, Fort Myers

In addition to the 111 Silver National Quality Award recipients, there are a total of 162 long term care centers in Florida that have achieved Bronze National Quality Award status. Two nursing centers have achieved Gold, the highest award distinction.

“I applaud our FHCA members for their resiliency and commitment to delivering the highest quality care to their residents. Recognition programs like these are important to help give the public a clear picture of the positive care outcomes and customer service that Florida's long term care centers are delivering every day,” said Emmett Reed, FHCA Chief Executive Officer.

Florida award recipients will be recognized during FHCA’s 2023 Annual Conference & Trade Show at the Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando, July 23-27, as part of the Quality Award Ceremony and Celebration sponsored by Medline Industries. This event serves to recognize all FHCA members that earn quality achievements, including National Quality Awards, Governor’s Gold Seal for Excellence in Long-Term Care, and Joint Commission accreditation.

AHCA/NCAL will officially present the National Quality Awards during Delivering Solutins 23, the AHCA/NCAL Convention & Expo, October 1-4, 2023, in Denver, Colorado.
