Miami Director of Nursing Recognized as FHCA’s 2023 Nurse Administrator of the Year

NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Farah Claude, Nursing Director at Aventura Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, has been recognized as the Florida Health Care Association’s 2023 Nurse Administrator of the Year. Claude received the award at FHCA’s 2023 Excellence in Long Term Care Nursing Awards on Friday afternoon.

In her time at Aventura Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Claude has helped the nursing center achieve Joint Commission accreditation, reduce rehospitalization rates, and improve referral communications and care coordination.

“Farah is a born leader, a role model, and a problem solver who has made a positive impact on the lives of thousands of nursing home residents,” said Rachel Schuster, CEO of Onyx Health. “She cares deeply for the center’s residents and shows true heroism everyday by enhancing the lives of those around her.”

FHCA’s Excellence in Long Term Care Nursing Award honorees are health care professionals, nominated by FHCA-member skilled nursing and assisted living centers, who reflect the unique characteristics, professionalism, and expanded skill sets needed in the profession. The annual awards recognize individuals for their important roles in helping centers achieve continuous quality improvement and demonstrating a person-centered care approach to residents and patients.

• Licensed Practical Nurse of the Year: Laura Meech, Director of Education/Infection Prevention at Palm Garden of Sun City Center
• Registered Nurse of the Year: Teresa Thompson, Assistant Director of Nursing at Valencia Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lakeland
• Certified Nursing Assistant of the Year: Audrey Foster, Certified Nursing Assistant at Sea Breeze Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Vero Beach
• Rising Star in Long Term Care Nursing: Sonia Wilson, Licensed Practical Nurse at Century Center for Rehabilitation and Healing in Century
